Power Systems Built By Someone Who Uses Them

How a personal passion became a professional shop

Mobile Solar Systems grew out of a simple reality — I kept building things, and the work kept getting bigger.

I’m Shawn. I spent years working in IT, solving technical problems and managing complex systems. Outside of work, I was deep in the overlanding world — running a Tacoma with a rooftop tent, following builds, and learning everything I could about mobile electrical and solar systems. The more I dug in, the more I realized how much bad wiring and poorly designed systems were out there. Undersized cables, unfused circuits, components that didn’t talk to each other, and systems the owner couldn’t troubleshoot because nothing was labeled or documented.

I knew I could do this work at a higher standard — and that there were people who cared enough about their rigs to want it done right. So I set up a proper shop in Manchester, New Hampshire, and started taking on projects. Today I’m building out my own Duramax overlanding rig alongside the client work — it’s an ongoing project that keeps me learning and pushes me to stay on top of what’s new in the space.

That’s Mobile Solar Systems — professional solar and electrical work for people who take their vehicles seriously, whether that’s a weekend camper or a fleet of work trucks.
